Colombia Decaf

Colombia Decaf, 12oz bag

Decaf is an expression of pure love of coffee. It's for those who get joy from the ritual, flavor, and experience of a cozy cup without the performance enhancement. Our decaf roast is made of a blend of beans from Colombia and sacrifices nothing except the caffeine.

Golden raisin leads, fig sits right behind it, and nutmeg shows up in the finish. It's creamy and full bodied and satisfying to both start or end a day with. This coffee holds up well for milk drinks but is also fantastic black, especially with immersion brewing.

The coffee comes from two growers' cooperatives around Planadas and Gaitania in Tolima, roughly 240 families farming two to four hectares each on Nasa indigenous land, dense plots of Caturra with more than 6,000 trees to the hectare. From there it goes to Manizales where the caffeine is pulled out with ethyl acetate made from fermented sugar cane - the same compound that turns up naturally in ripe fruit. Finally the beans are washed and dried again. That process removes about 97% of the caffeine without damaging the subtle flavors in the bean. It's certified organic up to the decaf step but the sugar cane isn't, so we don't call it organic.
